“I sincerely thank the government for taking action against him, even after such a long overdue,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today told journalists at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office here.
He further expressed, “He is a great enemy of Bangladesh, who caused significant harm staying at a top position. With the responsibility of shaping the nation’s destiny, he resorted to betraying the people and the state.”
Expressing hope for a proper investigation into all allegations against Khairul Haque and a fair trial, the veteran BNP leader said, “He should be exposed to exemplary punishment so that no one can dare to harm the country being in such a position in the future.”
Khairul Haque served as the Chief Justice from October 1, 2010, to May 17, 2011. The Appellate Division bench, led by him, delivered a verdict on May 10, 2011, nullifying the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, rendering the caretaker government system illegal.
