Expressing hope at the beginning of National Consensus meeting, Professor Ali Riaz said that if the participating political parties continue to cooperate, it will be possible to formulate a historic document within this time frame.
“We want this charter to be a roadmap for the country’s future,” Prof Riaz said adding “Given the sincerity and cooperation shown by political parties so far, we are hopeful that we can reach a final agreement in the coming days.”
He made the remarks during the opening of the 20th day of the second phase of dialogue between the commission and political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
“We have made significant progress in recent days, particularly yesterday,” said Prof Riaz.
He added, “Today, we are also trying to finalise the language of the preamble and background of the national charter through mutual discussion. Although we have yet to begin formal talks on the powers of the president, other issues will continue to be discussed.”
