The BNP is moving with caution to change the state structure, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made these remarks at a seminar titled ‘Necessity of implementing Padma Barrage and Second Padma Bridge’ at the BRAC Center in Mohakhali in the capital on Sunday (July 27)
He also said that BNP is fully aware of the needs and expectations of the people and is moving forward by realizing the need to change the state structure.
Highlighting the importance of the construction of Padma Barrage and Second Padma Bridge, he said that political commitment is essential for the implementation of such large projects. Besides, there must be public demands on these issues.
He said that the current situation is a transition period. Now an opportunity has been created. An atmosphere of national unity has been created. If this opportunity can be utilized properly, then the desired success can be achieved.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has long spoken about the need for the second Padma Bridge, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He said that many areas in the southern region are no longer suitable for bus traffic. It is important to take decisions now to solve these problems.
He also said that we rely on the people. If the people of Bangladesh are united, many things are possible. They proved that in 1971, and it has been proven again in 2024.
Stating that the BNP has long realized the need for state reforms, Mirza Fakhrul said that this is why BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman announced a 31-point outline.
