As the National Consensus Commission (NCC) nears its ‘important conclusion,’ EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller on Thursday reaffirmed the EU’s support for reforms promoting good governance, democratic values and fundamental rights.
“Greater accountability, institutional reform and transparency of decision-making are all on the table for decision,” he said, describing his meeting with NCC Vice Chair Prof Ali Riaz as ‘engaging’.
The meeting was held at the NCC office.
They spoke of the European Union’s support for a successful transition in Bangladesh leading to democratic elections.
The EU delegation said it remains encouraged to see ever-greater consensus emerge on key reforms and ready to partner with Bangladesh for implementation.
