The Bangladesh government has placed an order to buy 25 aircraft from US-based Boeing Company with the aim of building a strong infrastructure in the aviation sector.
Secretary Mahbubur Rahman told reporters at the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday (July 27).
He said, Boeing Company runs their business, not the US government. We have decided to buy 25 aircraft from them as India, Vietnam and Indonesia have already placed orders for 100 aircraft each.
He also said, Boeing will supply the aircraft according to their production capacity, so the process may take some time.
Now, Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has 4 Boeing 737-800s with 162 seats, 4 Boeing 777-300ERs with 419 seats, 4 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and 2 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in its fleet. It is expected that the addition of the new aircraft will further improve the efficiency and quality of service in the air transport sector.
