The Anti-discrimination student movement extends warm greetings and warm greetings to all the pro-uprising students and masses on the occasion of the first anniversary of the historic August 5, July Uprising.
The congratulations were extended in a press release sent by the organization’s office secretary Shahadat Hossain on Tuesday morning.
The press release describe, Today, August 5, is the first anniversary of the student-mass uprising, which is an unforgettable day in the history of Bangladesh. On this day last year, our beloved motherland was liberated from the millstone of nearly a decade and a half of misrule and fascism through the escape of the fascist and murderer Hasina in exchange for the blood of thousands of martyrs and injured. On the anniversary of this historic victory, the Anti-discrimination student movement extends warm greetings and warm greetings to all the pro-uprising students and masses.
On this historic day, we remember with profound respect those brave students, youth, workers, teachers, artists, professionals and people of all classes and professions, whose sacrifice and blood we got this new Bangladesh. We also remember with respect the martyrs of the July Uprising, whose blood-stained path led to our great victory. We express our unwavering gratitude to those injured; who have accepted permanent disability and lost their eyesight to ensure the liberation of the motherland.
The desire of this uprising, which took place under the leadership of the anti-discrimination student movement with the active participation of schoolchildren, college and university students, madrasa students, teachers, women, workers and professionals from different walks of life, was not only the fall or transfer of power of the fascist and murderer Hasina; but rather the complete abolition of the fascist system and a new political settlement. But we are observing with deep concern that even on the anniversary of the July student-public uprising, there has been no visible progress in the arrest or trial of those involved in the July massacre. At the same time, many fascist elements still exist in the state apparatus, which are contrary to the July uprising and are tantamount to betrayal of the blood of martyrs. It must be remembered that unless these fascist elements are uprooted, it is not possible to form our desired ‘post-July Bangladesh’. Therefore, all students and the public must come forward unitedly to build a new post-uprising Bangladesh.
Even though the anniversary of the uprising has not seen complete justice and structural changes, the desired reform activities of the July uprising have progressed to some extent. At the same time, the much-awaited July Declaration is going to be announced today based on the consensus of all political parties. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement sincerely applauds all the political parties concerned for this and calls on them to work unitedly to build the desired Bangladesh- the statement says.
